We just have coaches and GMs who think they are better than they are and think they can be cute:

1. We have Antwan Smith and good RB so lets draft Travis Henry;
2. We have Travis Henry so let's draft Willis McGahee;
3. We have Willis McGahee so let's draft Marshawn Lynch;
4. We have Marshawn Lynch so let's draft CJ Spiller;
5. We have no QB and no QB is rated to be drafted in first two rounds so lets draft a guy who is projected by EVERYONE else to be a third or fourth rounder in the 1st round-oh and let's let the GM who is retiring after the draft be the guy who decides to make this pick;
6. We don't have a QB so let's move up in the draft to take a WR (even though it's the deepest position in the draft by far) who our QB can't get the ball to.  Might as well trade next year's 1st round pick away so there will be no issues about selecting another QB;
7. Let's take our best player by far and use him as a decoy.  Throw the ball to him every few games to let other teams know we MIGHT use him against them and then throw to Hogan and Woods.  We can do the same thing with our TE that we spent a shitload of $$$ on also-decoy your best players-that's how the good teams win;
8. If the plan we have going into a game doesn't work stick with it because it eventually will.  Don't change up defense when Brady picks us apart in 1st half; Same thing with Alex Smith.  Stick head in the sand and believe in your scheme-IT WILL EVENTUALLY WORK.  
9.  Institute real challenge procedure AFTER yours doesn't work well rather than planning a procedure that MAY work;
10. Keep telling your player that takes 7 personal foul penalties in 11 games he's fine-Build a Bully!!
11. Keep hiring guys that either have never coached in NFL and who have had limited if no real success elsewhere or hire retreads that have failed elsewhere but talk a good game.

There is a reason that ALL of this has occurred since the Bills last made the playoffs.
